what do my sonarbouys do when im not looking:hmmm:
if i set the dicass bouy to active at the station the set the station to a diff freq. does the bouy still keep "pinging" or does it stop? is it active when it first hits the water or do you have to turn it on
also... what is the aprox wait time for the bouy to be usable after you launch it why do mine seem to take a while
is it possible for subs to detect a bouy entering the water or while its in the water (provided its not active) and can u tell the dif between active bouy/dip active/ship active ?
thanx advance

1.) It is not active when it enters the water, you have to make it transmit by using the XMIT button.
2.) The buoy stays active (means transmitting) even if you switch to another buoy on the gram if you had it enabled before switching. A buoy doesn't go active on its own.

With the unmodded DW the shallow buoy (90ft) takes (roughly) 2 minutes of in game time to send data while the deep buoy (400ft) takes about 4 minutes of in game time before sending data.

In real life subs can hear (if they are in range and listen and so on) when a buoy enters the water. Unless a buoy goes active you wont hear it in the water unless you drive right into one. And yes, buoys, dipping sonar and ship sonar have differing frequencys so you can determine what is pinging you. As a quick look in the future, I think LW has said that one of their long term goal is to give each active sonar set a distinctive frequency, so you could actually discern from the ping even better whats pinging you.
Cheers
