Discussion thread for Submarine Operations (http://www.commanders-academy.com/wiki/index.php?title=Submarine Operations). If you would like to add a comment, click the Post Reply button.

I've taken the time and copied & pasted the majority of information from the following two threads into the Wiki

- http://www.commanders-academy.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63

The authors whose contributions were used are listed under Contributors. Guys, I'd really appreciate it, if you could visit the Wiki Article in question and browse through the material and maybe add or correct stuff where needed (of course some work on the formatting wouldnt hurt either).

I added some links to the new reference chart and reorganized the ASUW portion so that my debate with Sea Demon was included with the parts about missiles instead of with the changed torpedo ranges.

EDIT: I'm also removing my "editorial note" from the beginning of the ASW chapter, from both the wiki and the sub forum. It's off topic, outdated, and inconsistent with the way I police the forum to begin with. Someone should have called me out on this. But, my hypocrisy goes only so far.

Just to memorialize the axed portion, here it is:

''First, an editorial note. For sub vs. sub battles, sub command was an amazing game. The effective use of torpedoes, and the decoys that foiled them, was a battle of the minds of the opposing sub skippers. It is unfortunate that, in DW, SCS has installed an omnicient auto-TMA, increased the acquisition ranges of the weapons, and caused weapons to explode on CMs. They fixed that which was not broken, and DW is quite a bit worse off for it, since employing and evading weapons is decided by quanities of weapons and CMs more than on the skill in which they are used. I guess new players will learn more quickly this way--and munchkins will thrive--but it hurts the enjoyment levels for the "skill" players immensely. Note: DW 1.03 turned down the aTMA significantly. aTMA still relies on Truth data rather than geometry, but it isn't nearly as omniscient as it used to be''

Considering that DW 1.04 + LW/Ami 3.08 pretty much fixes every problem mentioned here, I don't think this contributes anything to the forum or wiki, except maybe a historical footnote.
