Hello. I'm a new member. I'm glad to have found this and the Subgru site because I'm a big fan of Sub Command and Dangerous Waters. I play it whenever I can. I'm interested in getting the most out of the games and meeting other people who share my interest in all things submarine.

I still play Sub Command although I can see that DW is an improvement. A lot of the gripes I had with Sub Command have been rectified on DW, almost as if the creators could read my mind! EG: you can remove tracks from your plot that you no longer need; on SC they just get in the way. I like being on the bridge as well when I'm running surfaced.

I've played a few skimmer games and tried the aereal platforms, but my first love is still the submarine. It's a shame there are no training games for the Perry, Orion or helo. It's a good job I know how to handle the subs from SC.

Thanks, Oneshot.

I also play Silent Hunter 2 and 3. SH2 is really similar DW, but SH3 has some very advanced graphics, like 3D crew members and views. It's nice to look at but it's very graphics-heavy and you need a quite new card for it. It doesn't add to playablity in my view.

Welcome Transients.

A wealth of information here. Perhaps, you'd like to be part of a virtual organisation. Training is available.

Check this site out when you have the time. United States Virtual Navy (http://www.usvn.net/index.php)

Looks interesting, Dutchie.

The title "perisher" refers to the Royal Navy, not the United Stated Navy, but no doubt many American skippers want to pass the "perisher"; lets see how well they do.

Correct, It will be looked at possibly adding the Perisher course for the Advanced Course within the USVN. The Perisher Course is very challenging and one has to think about the strategy how to complete it. I've managed to complete it without any hair loss. Well, I've got no hair left to begin with

I'm a slap-head too, Dutchie!

As Tom Clancy says in his book Submarine: "They might respect the Americans, but the fear the Brititsh".
