1800s
World War 1
World War 2
50's
60's
70's
80's
90's
Turn of the Century (00's)
Future

So why did I plop down this list?

While I was working on the interface topic. I noted that I was plopping down interfaces from eras where things would be completely different from modern day submarine environments.

It got me thinking about the need for a small bit of organization in order to aid creation of missions and multiplayer environments.

Political
Status of Conflict
Amount and Type of Sea and Subsurface traffic
defenses
Recon amount and ability
Experimental
Etc..

Obviously the difference between the 50's and the 70's is extreme. Like the difference between the 80's and Turn of the century.

So I feel that a solid implementation of Eras will ease many aspects of creation and organization for this subsim.

I know it is extremely early to be going into any kind of detail on this. I simply wanted to get this topic started to get people thinking for the future.

I don't think the diffrences in eras is that extream I think it could easly work out like this:

Pre WWII
Probably the easiest interfaces. Sonar is basic or non-existent, little FC. Gun interfaces needed.

WWII/Early Cold War
SH II style interfaces. Start to need radarscopes. TDCs. Guns eventually vanish.

Cold War/Today
DW Style interfaces. Lots of TV screens. Waterfall, SSAZ, FRAZ come in to use.
