Hello all!
As discussed in subsim forum, I've made a mod for LwAmi that consists on a satellite of communications.
It is discussed in this thread Satellite communications mod for LwAmi - SUBSIM Radio Room Forums (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=130059). OneShot asked me to post and upload also here and I do it with pleasure

Tell me what do you think about it, I will check this and the subsim thread.

An update will arrive soon with a "land radio signal".

And thank You very much, OneShot

Ok, this is the second version of the mod.

I've created also a landbased radio communication.

This has two versions, one for LwAmi mod v3.08 alone, and another for the Sakura mod v1.02

Just extract it on Your main DW folder.

Hi All,

What do these COMSAT mods do? I didn't see anything posted about the issue that these two mods address.

Thanks, RVer1

Just follow the link...

After a long time thinking on it, I've created a small mod of a "Satellite of communications" for both LwAmi v3.08 and Sakura v1.02 mods.
It has 2 adds to the game:
-a Satellite of communications
-a landbased radio

With this I pretend to simulate somehow a way to communicate with the Head Quarters (COMSUBLANT/PAC North Fleet...) in order to send/receive data, new mission orders, intelligence...
Also to simulate land transmissions I've made a landbased radio also detectable from ESM at short range.

The COMSAT and the radio are detectable via ESM, so, In my opinion is more or less realistic as you have to be at periscope depth if You want to stablish contact with it; and with the radio antenna up to receive the messages.

It's not addressing any "issue," it introduces new features.

where will it let you use it? I can't find it on the mission editor.

You'll find your answer in the included Readme for mission designers.

Thank's Molon!!

You're doing the job I should be doing! :massa:

And very good, I can't talk bettere in so few words.

This Xmas I have to decide what to do about the mod, I would like to add a few things, but I don't have time...

OK, I was working on integrating this into 3.09 and didn't have much success. I started off with an AEW sensor entity, cut down the update interval, and played with the detection curve a bit. I'm putting this thing at 150K feet and placing it anywhere from 150nm to the "edge of the map" (where I'd prefer to have it) away from the playable and I can't pick it up. Were there any particularly important setting you had to play with to get platforms to detect this thing?

I'm not sure about what could be the problem. I put you a couple of screen captures of how i have the database and a few considerations, but I'm sure you've made most of all.

Yes, you're right, I used the U.S. AEW E-3 Sentry as a base, both for the platform as for the radar.
Fisrt, the obvious things: I've never tested the sat at 150k feet; moreover, I created it with a maximun altitude of 100k both for the sat as for the radar, so check this, maybe there's the problem.
another obvious part is to make the sensor counterdetectable (does this word exist?) by ESM.

Here are the settings I put for the platform and the sensor.

In this part, maybe the "problems" are the maximun altitude and the weaponmaxrange. I don't know if the weaponrange affects at all, but it worked for me so i left it as it is...

Here in the sensor, check the max op alt and maybe also the sensor atributes, maybe there are some differences...

At this time I can't think in other possible problems, but I will continue thinking on it.

The last things I wanted to create for the mod (but never finished that part) was a "spy" satellite, with a very powerfull visual detection range (as far as I can remember, it was many months ago, but I believe that when I used a radar the datalink was wrong but good with visual detection... in a couple of days I will be "free" and I will take a look on this.

Tell me if you can resolve the problem.

And merry XMAS to you!

Okay, thanks.

The problem is that there is a hardcap on ESM detection range, and it appears to be hardwired to the engine. I filled in the det. curve for the ESM sensor with 9s and the best I could do was 200nm. Anything beyond that and it just drops off.

Or maybe I just don't know how the detection curve works.

Great work on the comsat. Here is something that you may find interesting in regards to your land based radio.
