Furia;
You are the resident FFG expert and I have your hunting guide, but I, and I think Lane, could use some help in just basic operations. Now I have the manual and I read it but let me give you an example "African Hornets Nest" Furia I ran over every d... thing in that Harbor I did finally limp out but by that time I was timed out. Subs are easier we are never in port.
Just basics ops and then I will bug you about more techical stuff.
Oh Hell JUst Ram it,

Well for the African Nest, you first at all must secure your ship defence and perimeter.
You have two nice .50 cal MG that can help but also the main gun and even the CIWS. You have to ID the threats. Use your Binos abd read the Intel avalaible.
Once you have cleared the "surface menace" you must according to your Intel watch out for Mines, for this you have a nice HF sonar located on Sonar station (F4), select HF and keep an eye. Keep a constant watchout and ID any surface , air or subsurface contacts you can find but aware not killing civvies.
The main menace of this map if I remeber well is the fast boats, but you have to ID them, (I think depending on their colour) some are for and others are Neutrals.
If you do not control the main gun or the CIWS well, you can nicely use the .50 cal, they work real nice.
If you find some mines with the HF sonar, click on the contacts on the sonar screen and you will have them on your Nav map so you can avoid them
I think is are the basics for this mission.
please let me know if this is the kind of info you needed.

By the sound of it he merely had some navigation problems getting out of the dock... that's the typical problem there anyway.
I did it perfectly the first time I tried - but not the second or third :)

Yes!
Put it at 3kts back.
Then switch between the bridge lookout and the helo hanger lookout (with the .50cal), making slight rudder adjustments.
Back it out like a '64 Cadillac!

Do you use the APU units? That is a new one for me and I was using them, seemed to help some.

One important thing to do with the FFG when you start the map in a dock is to inmediately order a "rudder admiships" because the rudder is "free" and it is not safe to go Full back this way.
I use the APU and it works nice provided you are careful to not have more than 5 knots.
As you know ships are not like cars and they have their innertia so they take some secconds to start moving and some seconds to stop. Do not rush the dock manuvering.
First make sure there is not any threat nearby and then execute the un docking procedure.

Thank you and I will try to do it again, it would be nice not to waste the whole water front.

Furia is the Resident FFG expert  I have hear this guy talking with OS:wink:
With Lane is all try, and back to drawing Board. I like driving a surface
Boat for a change. The weapons and Electronics are great when you learn to use them and keep the truth off:wink:
I tore up the dock's and the FFG first time I try to undock:rolleyes:
This how I did the time I undocked try to remmber.
Truth off.
ApU both lower, and engage set at 180 takes a little while to get moving about 2 kts, go to back were the 50 cals and watch you progress
keep watching till you get clear then i think I went to a Full left rudder
and I saw I was backing out into the harbor it is trickie:eek:
I think when I saw I was heading backwards I disagaged and raised APU.
In when to slow speed backing FFG. till I was clear of docks
"Heck" I probley could not do it the second time:smile:
Get under way flank speed because you got to 1830 to make open sea
Keep a look out for those small black boats they will ram "U"
Then Do what Furia said
Hope this mit help or confuse you more It's not easy mission
Lane:smile:
