Ok so I got a problem with Torps not following the RunoutBrg.

Dw 1.04
LwAmi 3.08
Flying the P-3 in the 'First Salvo' scenario.

So I get the VLAD bouy fixes and make a nice triangulation on the Oscar II. Then come in at 200' over the position to get my MAD/SAD contact. There are no other surface/sub contacts in the area SAD reports submerged contact ...... its a sub yeah yeah your dead!
I then add ID + Hostile to the MAD/SAD contact, run out to a distance 20k yds - 30k yds and turn in for my attack. No Auto Crew enabled. Select Mk50 torp's in bomb bay; set the presets RTE, Speed,Snake; can't/don't/shouldn't need to set bearing because I have assigned the target to the torp's. Run in to about 8k yds and drop torp's.
So far so good....... NO!!!!!...... the torps head in a completely different direction !!! Usually south [Joke]
I have tried this several times, and the only way I can get the torps' to head on the bearing is not to select the target but set the bearing manually.
Am I doing something stupid here? Or is this a bug?
I will try this later on a different scenario just in case its something to do with that, but its' puzzling me?!#

Not quite the answer you are looking for, but try setting the torp to circle and drop it on top of a very accurate fix or mad mark. I have better luck with this method.

I think you do need to give the torp a runout bearing when you're air-dropping. I don't know if it's a bug or not, but what might be happening is that the weapon is steering in the direction the contact was in when the contact was assigned. Another possibility is that you selected the target but didn't actually click the assign button to "upload" that data into the weapon. I can't really be sure because I've been doing manual runout bearings since DW 1.0.

Yeah that one works, but if I use circle on the torp I drop it on the contact anyway. Thanks for your input Swordfish

Right first ......sorry for the double post re-swordfish reply. Please remove one

Second.... how do you include two quotes on the same reply? Which is why I double posted in the first place

And third...... I think I've been stupid  Molon I think your right; will need to check this out. I have a feeling that I may be taking the target bearing to early. Thats is to say before I actually point the nose of the aircraft at the target
Once the aircraft has moved the bearing will change of course ............... woops
I only use the auto bearing cause I'm lazy..... unlike Molon .... that'll teach me
Will have to check to be sure

Ok I'm not being stupid. I tested this again and the Torps did infact go on an almost reciprical bearing from the target. Will need some further tests on other scenarios. Will post some more when I get results.
