Hi,
run by accident into this forum.
The community subsim sounds promising and I like the 3d engine.
@Dr.Sid: Is this sim just developed by you, will it be open source later and in which language/framework do you write the sim?
Thanks :-)

It's c++,opengl, openal (later) .. will be made open later or if I decide to leave it, which I hope I won't have to.

I dont want to open a thread just for one question so the title of this thread seems ok for me to post my thoughts here.
So Dr.Sid did you plan interiors for your Sim?
Many of the players are feel ok if they just can look at the Displays
but the one thing i always miss in Dangerous Waters is that feeling
to stay inside of the Submarine like in Silent Hunter.

If you model them, I have no problem with that. I'm afraid we won't be able to make good interiors (with good animated sailors, of course) any soon. Such interior is as much work as another boat. It's better to have that another boat then. And it's better to have no interiors then to have bad ones.
But one day, who knows. My wild dreams are about modern sub which can be walked through freely (all decks), with all the men doing their job and moving out of the way or greeting you briefly.

I keep promising new models but just can't find the time. I dabbled with making an interior of a sub but it didn't pan out. Besides unless someone can give me half decen dimensions for the size of compartments then there is no point. I agree best to have no interior than a rubbish one.

Instead of modelling 3d interiors, why don't we design really nice 2d stations ? High resolution photorealistc 2d stations.

sadly i cant help you with creating 3D Stuff.
2D Images are my profession where i maybe can help, but no 3D.
But you are right better no interiors than bad ones.
They would be really nice but i think you have other development problems than interiors atm ;)
