The final frontier...
These are the...
Ok enough with the Star Trek references.
Since the 70s Space has bee a serious asset to any nation that possessed the technology to reap it's rewards. The only two major players to do so till the 90s was Soviet Russia and the USA.
For communication they are a must...
For Recon they are a must...
Which is why I think this simulator needs to have a BASIC simulation of Orbital Mechanics..
Now don't freak out! It is but a group of equations that tells that if you get high and fast enough you will be in a certain Orbit. No need for the super advanced amount of Physics involved with Orbiter.
But those simulated "Birds" give a new aspect of play that has not been explored much in my view. Timing your movements to correspond to a pass of a recon sat will add a good deal of depth to the game.
If you can zoom out and see a big globe you can see the little objects orbiting it (Once you zoom in on them of course). And no that is not cheating because many nations can use radar to track the birds in flight and update the numbers. Heck they even put out that info for others to see (Like for those who want to watch Hubble and the space station as they pass overhead.) http://celestrak.com/
I will use this topic to post interesting info that can be used to implement such a thing.
