I'm back and reacquainting myself with DW after a lengthy hiatus due to life, career, the universe and everything.

I was recently playing Subguru's "Belling the Cat" scenario (and, as an aside, he has a wonderful talent for injecting atmosphere into his scenarios) and after driving U.S.S. Pasadena (688I) aggressively into the disputed zone, successfully picked up and ID'ed all of the Russian vessels participating in their fleet exercise. I then beat feet back across the line into international waters in response to active sonar pinging at steadily decreasing range from the Russian surface escorts. Pasadena loitered just outside the line, maintaining a prudent distance from the active sonar, and picked up the second Typhoon as she headed out to sea (the first launched a missile-with great audio effects-and headed back into harbor). Pasadena was aggressively tailing the Typhoon (perhaps too much so) when she pulled a "Crazy Ivan" and Pasadena was caught inside her turn radius. All I could do was go All Stop, rig for ultraquiet and make like a hole in the H2O, all the while watching the TMA screen and sweating it out. The attached picture shows how close we came to collision. When the Typhoon returned to her base course and speed, Pasadena picked up the trail again (somewhat less aggressively this time) and completed the exercise without further incident, 8 hours after first crossing into disputed territorial waters.

Thanks to Subguru and all of you who submit such great scenarios; they add much to the richness of the DW experience
