Let's see who still plays DW!
This is a rather large MP scenario that should have something for just about everyone. I'm looking for 5-9 players. Sign up if you can make it, or if you can't make this session but would like to try at a different time, post your availability.

1.04+LWAMI req'd.

Available Platforms
United States
1x FFG-7: Grindler ESG formation leader; responsible for ASW and missile defense.
1x FFG-7 SDK Escort attached to ESG, flank guard; responsible for ASW and missile defense. Free to change position if doing so would keep the formation safer.
1x 688I: Blacklight Advance ASW Patrol ahead of ESG; secondary ASUW mission
1x P-3: To Be (Subsimmer) Advance ASW Patrol; multiple ASUW sorties may be required.
1x MH-60: JoeL ASW support

India
2x Akula-II: Molon Labe, ___Coastal defense
1x Kilo(I): Coastal defense
1x Shivalik FFG (Perry): Minor player, air defense for subs or missile defense for reinforcement LSTs.
1x MH-60: ASW support for friendly subs

Scenario Overview
The US has sent the Bataan ESG to the aid of Sri Lanka, which has been invaded by India. The ESG consists of a Wasp LHD, two Newport LSTs, and several escorts. India is blockading the coast with three subs and has sent its own LSTs to reinforce the front lines. It also has a small surface force in the area which can either protect the LSTs or deny airspace to US aircraft. This scenario also comes with a Fleet Command sound pack that provides damage reports in audio to platforms above the surface.

Scenario Dynamics: Victory Conditions and Tasking
This scenario is designed to play out differently every time it's played. The Bataan may land on any point along the designated coast, so the location of intercept is highly variable. The number of US ships that must be landed to win varies upon the number of Indian LSTs that also land. US platforms may attack those LSTs, but doing so will take time away from or otherwise detract from their ASW mission. Similarly, the Indian FFG may choose to defend the LSTs or keep US aircraft away from their subs, but it cannot do both.

Since the US side is filling up, I'm marking myself down for OPFOR.

Also, I'm only reserving platforms for YES RSVPs, not maybes. And I'm considering temporarily replacing one of the DDs with another playable FFG as an accommodation.

This looks interesting, I'll take the US MH-60 if it's still available.

Yes it is. Don't forget to click the RSVP button so we get an accurate count at the top.

The US side is now CLOSED.

representative US briefing:

1. SITUATION: Indian forces continue to advance futher south in Sri Lanka. The Bataan ESG is to land the 26th MEU on the Indian flank to prevent an overrun of defending forces.<R>

2. MISSION: FFG 36 is
to lead the Bataan ESG to proximity of the designated shore so that the 26th MEU can land. <R>

3. EXECUTION:<R>

A. Rules of Engagement: All Indian Navy ships are delcared hostile and may be engaged without warning. All unidentified submarines detected in
the area are delcared hostile and may be engaged without warning. Civilian traffic is expected to be minimal, but may include local fishing boats.<R>

B. Enemy Forces: Two leased Akula-II class submarines are believed to be operating in the area. Several K
ilo class boats are also unaccounted for. Four IN destroyers and frigates are known to be in the area. [Note: one frigate is being played by a US OHP.] Two Magar LSTs have been detected enroute to the area, probably to reinforce the flank. They are con
sidered high priority targets.<R>

C. Abort Criteria: Mission success requires that you land at least one more ship than the enemy. If at any point during the operation your forces are no longer capable of accomplishing this objective, you are to abort th
e landing. <R>

-------------------------<R>

<R>

Desinger's notes:<R>

To land the LSTs, head directly for the shore until the FFG is between 4 and 5nm away, then turn perpendicular to the shoreline. Once the LSTs are within range, a script will fire setting them o
n course 240 and speed 20 knots. Wait until both LSTs are out of the Bataan's way before turning away from the coastline.<R>

The LHD will be considered to have landed troops if it is alive and either (1) an LST is landed or (2) all enemy surface and subsur
face threats are eliminated (a surface ship is a threat if it is capable of carrying antiship missiles).<R>
Representative India breif:

1. SITUATION: SNC has detected a US fleet approaching your patrol area and believes it is attempting an amphibious assault. Intelligence indicates the fleet includes a Wasp class assault ship and two Newp
ort LSTs. Friendly reinforcements are arriving from the north, but will be insufficient to protect our flank from the full compliment of US troops.<R>

2. MISSION: Engage and destroy the US amphibious vessels or force them to retreat. If possible, prote
ct our LSTs delivering reinforcements from the north.<R>

3. EXECUTION: <R>

A. Rules of Engagement: You are authorized to engage any US Navy ship. The use of mines to protect the designated coastline is authorized.<R>

B. Enemy forces: US forces are expected
to have partial air supremacy over your patrol area and may be operating P-3s from Sri Lankan airports. US submarines are often attached to amphibious fleets and can be expected to be present.<R>

--------------<R>

Designer's note: India wins if it prevents
the US from landing one more ship than India. LSTs are marked landed when they physically land on the beach. The LHD is considered to have landed its troops if it is alive and (1) an LST lands or (2) all of your submarines and SSM-capable warships are s
unk.

Sound pack attached; split up into 3 parts to conform to filesize limitations.

These will provide audio damage reports to surface and air platforms.

EDIT: Oneshot gave me an FTP to upload it to. Here it is in one file:

I just received notice via PM that SDK and Grindler will be unavailable until 2000hrs. If we have adequate people to proceed at 1800, I'll ask if people are OK with holding up for them.

Me and my brother may have longer delay than expected - we are sorry, but we got some 'family stuff' to take care about.

Thanks to the 5 that made it.

That was a rather abortive attempt... it seemed only 4 made it in although we apparently had a 5th that never checked in.

I need to stress the need to use platforms for the missions they are designed for and to perform the mission you've been assigned. I'd like to give this another try soon, hopefully with at least 6 and hopefully we'll all "play our class" this time, so to speak.

You may have to rethink having the OHP for the Indian side. Both me in the MH60 and To Be in the P3 were investigating Vlad and dipping sonar contacts when the AI OHP shot us down. The contacts turned out to be both of the Akulas, so we were both doing our jobs when the OHP got us. I never saw it before it shot. You may have to add AWACS support for the US side. I'm available to play again as long as the time works out.

I wouldnt take out the FFG on the red side. It makes life hard on the air units but dont forget the P3 for example can load up with SLAM-ERs and blast the ship out of the water. I might be wrong but I think only one SLAM-ER is enough to sink a FFG considering that you can load 10 of em it should be possible to take out the FFG. You just have to be careful till the FFG is out of the picture, if the FFG wouldn't be there the P3/MH-60 would have an easy job dealing with the Akulas early on.

Bottom Line : Even tho I'm biased toward the airplatforms I suggest to keep in the FFG.

No way. The Red FFG did what it was supposed to. It was completely within your side's power to either destroy or avoid it. Either you or the P-3 could have classified it, and the P-3 or 688I could have destroyed it. And there is never, ever, ever any excuse for a P-3 or MH-60 getting into its SAM envelope when it is not at EMCON.

Also, since the FFG was moving south away from the Indian LSTs, the LSTs were poorly defended. Your side failed to exploit this. Had you taken advantage of the FFG's movement and sunk the LSTs, our side would have been required to sink all three amphibs in order to be assured of victory--which would have been a very difficult task even if your air platforms couldn't get to us.
