prototype SSBN 598 model undergoes early sea trials in the virtual oceans of 3DRAD...
i just plopped this one in for scaling and to get an overall feel for the appearance ( in order to get it to look right in the game i had to enlarge the sail slightly out of scale)... the lil computer guy on the hull is the representative of the size of what one of the crewmen will be... getting that right, or even close, is a real pain...
the physics model is from the old TypeXXIII sub... also, the missile hatch covers and tubes are still missing... just a quick test... still got a bit to do...

actually... i'm doing both... cold war and wwii... but wwii will probably be done first... just one sub (type23) and no multiplayer... i needed to draw back a bit and make a simpler game first... the type23 will be a lot easier... limited missions and on two torps...
the cold war game has at least 3 us and 3 russian subs (not to mention ships and planes), and i was planning on starting the cold war with diesels... but it's just turning out to be tooo much work... even similar types (tang, growler, whiskey, zulu) have so much to model...
originally, i wanted to do a full walkthru thing... and i did a guppy sub, fwd torpedo room to aft torpedo room and all the compartments in between... but that really wore me out... and play testing it showed that only the captain, diving officer, exec (attack) officer was really interesting enough to simulate... i wanted to have engineering duties simulated, but, while the engineering officer on a diesel sub has enough to keep a gamer busy, on nuc boats, it just wouldn't be the choice station to play... mostly monitoring stuff, and pretty boring...
anyways... at this time it's the major forward spaces and sensor stations only... hopefully i can get those done...
once i get a lil farther on one i'll take you up on the offer for a forum to keep a real progress report available, and to get input...

Mike, will multi play allow a "crew" to function on one sub?

Hi Mike and Scott
I cant wait the release of the cold war sim Mike. A multi crew function would be very nice. Or it is possible to add third party subs in your sim?
I like the screenshot of the Washington. Your ocean graphic looking very good. Can you make a little video in the cold war sim graphic engine?
