Thanks to OneShot, we now have the capability to host tournaments on this forum. Specifically, we can host Elimination, Last Man Standing, and Ladder tournaments. Scores can be entered into the forum and the forum will track the progress of the tournaments for us. All we need to do is decide what matches to host and how to score them.
We will immediately be launching a 1v1 sub v. sub ladder tournament. We will add other formats based upon interest. Possible formats include 2v2 subs v. subs, Force-on-Force (fleet vs. fleet), Scenario team competitions, FFG v. FFG, and just about any Red v. Blue combination you can imagine. We might also host cooperative skills competitions where teams would be evaluated in their efficiency against AI (or an aggressor team) rather than success in direct combat with each other. We have the tools, how we use them is mostly up to you.
If there is any particular type of match you'd like to see, register your interest by starting a thread with the match type as the thread Title, or post in a similar thread if someone else beat you to it. We'll use these threads to determine the level of interest in that match type and to figure out the rules, mission standards, and scoring for those formats. Don't be afraid to think outside the box...because really, the most interest we need in any format to make it happen is two people.
Bear with us as we're setting this up. There will be a few bumps early out on the road, but once we get it sorted out this is going to be a great resource for whatever kinds of competition you want without all the burdens that come along with virtual fleets.
More information to follow...
