Hi.
I just began playing Dangerous Waters. Great game, but with some rather annoying bugs, especially in campaign scenarios.
I noticed that right from the start, as the first campaign mission with Akula is broken and impossible to complete.
So i tried this mod, hoping it would fix my problems.
The first campaign mission is a bit different now, but it is still impossible to complete! :gdamnit:
This time, when I deploy special forces, they land on the coast, but I never get goal completed. I have completed all other goals, but this one just doesn't work, whatever I do.
Please, help, stuff like this really drives me mad.

You and me both. This came up a few months ago on another forum. I ran the mission and got the same problem. I just tried it again in response to your issue and it worked just fine. The only difference between then and now was a fresh reinstall/patch. That shouldn't make a difference because the first mission hasn't been updated (just Strait of Malacca). If you want to try a reinstall, be my guest, but I think the best option is to complete the mission with another platform. Frustrating, I know, but I honestly have no idea why sometimes that trigger fires and other times it doesn't.
Just one idea to get more information. Run the attached mission file and send a spec ops team to the location of the building. Let me know which, if any, of the triggers fire. That might tell us if the problem is in the campaign file or has to do with some sort of corruption in DW.

I tried your mission, but when I right-click the building, there is no "Deploy Special Forces" menu item.
Also, there is no range circle around the building.

Create a manual contact in front of or behind the building and launch the SOF at that.

How do I do that?
Anyway, I installed DW and LwAmi on a different computer, and I got the same problem. I reinstalled, it still didn't go away.
So I finished the first mission with a different platform.
Then tried the second one, with Akula. But again, it is impossible to finish!
Last goal is to leave the harbor, but when I do, it doesn't mark as completed.
This is getting ridiculous. How could someone release a game with such glaring errors? :cussing:

Hello everyone,
I have the same problem but I use the 688(i). I have no mod installed just the Patch 1.04.
Very often, I'm killed in the first mission before I've fully deployed the radio wire.
The first thing, what I do, is to stop the sub (0kts). Then I release the wire. Then I make an route of waypoints like that (screenshot on imagehost.org):
http://g.imagehost.org/t/0562/Screenshot_2.jpg (http://g.imagehost.org/view/0562/Screenshot_2)
I've read here, that the towed array of US Subs can be used at 1/4 lenght without problems. Therefore I do so. Sometimes, I'm immidiatly detected an shot when I retrieve the towed array. Seems like retrieving makes noise.
If I'm not shot, I speed up to one ore two knots and compress the time.
I play with full autocrew.
The longest time I played without being detected was about 5 hours in full time compression. Within this time I detected 25 contacts. 23 of them were fully ID'ed. Then I turned a little bit more to the west and guess what... right, I was shot immidiatly.
It is like there is a hidden line. If I cross it, I get shot. This problem occurs everytime I play the mission.
Ok. I thought that should be so in real live. Because there are so many stillstandig enemy vehicles that the combined recon power of them does'nt leave me a chance.
Therefore I want to ask the oldfags here for some hints. How did you accomplished the misson? Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Ok, I think the first advice to me will be: Learn the game and turn off autocrew ;-)
But is there any chance to do it with the autocrew?
I was really addicted to SSN-21 Seawolf in the 90s. But the I never played an SubSim again until I've heared about DW.
I know that this is no shoot-and-don't-think-game. And thats exactly what I prefer. But I need to learn the game.
I'm registered here since this evening and just started to look around. If one of you would like to provide me with some links to beginners stuff, espacially learning the game, that would be nice.
last thing: I'm no native english speaker therefore I apologize for any mistakes.

You can't be having the same problem because the 688I does not have the same mission. You don't need to deliver a special forces team to that command center building.
As for counterdetections... they happen. Just keep it slow and keep your distance. If you can't get in from the east, try going in from the south. These missions were designed by SCS for unmodded detection ranges, so with the stock database it is definitely possible to slip by.

Ok, thanks.
I'll give it a try.
Also, I didn't meant a delivery of special forces, thats right.
But I meant problems with the triggers.
Anyway. I will give the sub an new route with a speed of 1kts.
Perhaps it works, this time.

Not necessarily related, but I need someplace to post this replay of a successful run of the first campaign mission from the Russian side.

hey there! thank you
sadly, i couldnt open it after unzipping. it becomes a .dat file. i tried several media players w/ no luck.
its still giving me problems. i can land the boat and classify the patrol craft /w no fighting or detecting. im stuck on the part where you have to damage a ship now. ha.
idk which ship it means. some ships have a neutral symbol in the link. guessing not them.
basically, all the ships are traveling @ 1 knot speed, mostly stationary. furthermore, none of the surface contacts appear to be making a break for open sea even, like the trigger for it is nerfed or something. i just get the radio message, and then its like stuck or something.
not sure if this has to do w/ doing all the side objectives (including getting counter-detected, which is the easiest goal to attain ) or if there is a specific order in which the 2 critical goals (classifing the rebel patrol craft, embarking/landing the spec ops team) need to be completed to trigger the ships egressing the inlet, as the radio report indicates, but doesnt actually physically happen after that.
thats where i'm at with it, currently.

It's supposed to be a .dat file. You view it with DW, not a media player. Mark it read only, load the mission, and quit. The saved replay will load during the debrief.

right, my bad. didnt realize it was something you need to open using DW.
still was never able to get that "stop the ships from leaving the inlet" objective to fire correctly. i did it in order too. 1st the spec ops, then the IDing, both w/o being detected. crazy game.
i instead went to the editor and disabled the goal altogther and life is much less stressful now thanks.
