Does the layer have a thickness? If your boat is at the layer depth can you be half above it half below? At what distance should I put my boat to be for sure either above it or below it? I assume one must know the height of your boat to make the proper adjustments, but I dont find such info in the DW manual..I am currently sailing the Seawolf and according to my out of game sources the beam is 42'4" so I guess I must make the nessassary adjustments when going below the layer...

At what speed does the TA start to drop or sink in the Seawolf? 4knts

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I've never seen anything in the sim that suggests a sub is treated as anything but a point source in the acoustic modeling.

One big feature of DW that I've had to get used to is the TA's buoyancy. It's negative in DW while neutral in SC. You can crawl along at bear steerageway in SC and the TA will happily follow in your exact track, but not so in DW. It will droop at low speeds and sometimes trawls the bottom whiting it out. In shallow waters it helps to retrieve it a bit until it lifts off the bottom.
