Welcome CADC members. You've stumbled upon the breifing rooms for an experimental tournament that I'm running. We're trying to see if it's viable as a method of competition.
You can follow our progess here on the board, or at our homepage. (http://home.insightbb.com/%7Enotenoughsand/clashpage.htm) The briefing rooms are locked, and are reserved for team members so that they can discuss strategy and orders in confidence. The "press releases" section will eventually start to fill up with "news reports' pertaining to the events of the war.
The rulebook (http://home.insightbb.com/%7Enotenoughsand/Global_Domination_Tournament.doc) is still a work in progress, but it can give you a good idea of what we're doing here. The short version is this: Two teams, made up of officers who are assigned to playable platforms and several AI platforms, are at war with each other. They order their platforms about a Stategic Map of the region, taking over ports to expand their economy and encountering enemy units. When enemies are encountered, a Dangerous Waters game is scheduled between the involved players.
We are using DW 1.01 + LW/Ami 2.3 to start, and may upgrade to 1.03 if the full version is released and solves the sub manuevering issues without introducing any other issues. The "war" should last about a month.
