Welcome CADC members. You've stumbled upon the breifing rooms for an experimental tournament that I'm running. We're trying to see if it's viable as a method of competition.

You can follow our progess here on the board, or at our homepage. (http://home.insightbb.com/%7Enotenoughsand/clashpage.htm) The briefing rooms are locked, and are reserved for team members so that they can discuss strategy and orders in confidence. The "press releases" section will eventually start to fill up with "news reports' pertaining to the events of the war.

The rulebook (http://home.insightbb.com/%7Enotenoughsand/Global_Domination_Tournament.doc) is still a work in progress, but it can give you a good idea of what we're doing here. The short version is this: Two teams, made up of officers who are assigned to playable platforms and several AI platforms, are at war with each other. They order their platforms about a Stategic Map of the region, taking over ports to expand their economy and encountering enemy units. When enemies are encountered, a Dangerous Waters game is scheduled between the involved players.

We are using DW 1.01 + LW/Ami 2.3 to start, and may upgrade to 1.03 if the full version is released and solves the sub manuevering issues without introducing any other issues. The "war" should last about a month.

I wonder...With the lack of people on either side will players who normally fly the P-3 and especially the MH-60 be forced to drive subs and frigates?

Also, I tried to find it but what happens if there are 2 AI warships in the same hex?

We do not expect any lack of people on this tournament.
All selected people are reliable players willing to fulfil their comittement and attend scheduled combats.
Anyway if needed we can man other platforms we are not so used although most people here is experienced enough to control most of them.
About the AI on same grid, the answer is yes, it can happen a DW map must be played as the Admin as spectator to determine the outcome. This also depends of the Orders the AI have because if one refuses the combat it can in some cases evade it.

I read in the Sub Club forum at here (http://subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=13761&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=) that there is some kind of maverick bug that allows it to attack submerged subs. I have read in the rules doc that you can't use the maverick against aircraft but it says nothing about the sub bug. perhaps you should include the specific maverick vs submerged sub bug as banned as well.

With the use of the Lw/Ami Mod this particular bug is history. While you can still aim & fire the Maverick even at submerged subs, it won't hit it if the sub is below the surface. Check the Lw/Ami Readme for details.
