This tool assists with TMA analysis by providing line-of-sight to the target. It does require the use of MATHCAD, so it may be of no value for most users. However, you may want to take a look if you have some version of MATHCAD.

The tool calculates target and own ship data for speed across the line-of-sight and speed in the line-of-sight. Range rate is also calculated for across and in the line-of-sight. Although speed vectors are shown the same length within each circle, speed and range rate can be read directly from the tool.

To change the line-of-sight plot, simply update the values in the upper-left corner with data from the TMA station. I use two monitors, one running DW in a window and the other running the tool. Makes updating the plot really convenient.

Finally, the charts attached to the tool are from Stephen Haptonstahl of Northern Illinois University (found them on the internet). They’re included as a reminder of the conditions for Lead, Lag and Overlead. Refer to the attachments for an example of the tool’s output.

If you want a copy of the tool, send me a Private Message with your email address.

Vance

Thats pretty cool. Makes me wish I had MathCAD.
