Just a quick reminder on procedure; the challenging player is supposed to create this thread and post his availability. That way the challenged player (me) can look at that availability and accept a time to hold the match (or offer an alternate time).

Right now, I'm generally free today. Tomorrow, if I'm available it will probably be around 1800hrs-1930 (Central US). Saturday I'm free also. After that it gets sketchy.

Let me know if you have any problems installing LWAMI.

Sorry ML, I'm not quite familiar with the rules.

I come too late today. I think it is 2051 central now.

I'm available Saturday.

I'm behind an NAT (network address translation) gateway. I hope that doesn't cause connection problem.

No problem...

Saturday I'm open from, let's say 0300-0100 (Sunday) GMT (0900-1900 Central US). I'd prefer to go on the earlier side of that if possible. Anything work for you in that time slot?

What's that, 1200 Saturday-0900 Sunday in China? Looks like we're 14 hours apart!

Actually I live in Vancouver,bc,Canada. GMT-8, Pacific Time.
I may not get up early, but i'll try.

How do we communicate with each other? MSN( fanqi1234@sina.com ) or something else?

Sorry, thought I saw China on your profile.
Down with the Canucks! Go 'Hawks!

Anyways, I've got a pretty big chunk of time. Can you choose something in that time slot or give me a range to choose from? Better to set a specific time than to try to hang out around the forum all day...

As for comms, I'd just jump into flashchat at the time we choose. I've got AIM, ICQ, and Xfire too.

0800 Pacific = 1000 Central?

I'll be on FLashChat at that time.

Thanks for the match.

When you get a chance, head over to the Ladder challenges page and confirm the score (0 - 1000). There's something new about a screenshot there, don't worry about it, I think it will accept the score without it.

After Action Report

Scenario played: NCHQ Med Tango

I started my patrol in the USS Scranton near a small island at the SW border of the Aegean sea, searching for an Akula-I (imp). I was at the SW side of the island and plotted an easterly course around it, taking care not to get too close so as not to lose first detection advantage. Launched a UUV and had it separate North before taking a NE course.

Early contacts were a Yacht headed North on the W side of the island and a Cargo Ship well to the SE. We also had intermittent contact with a 50-125 behind the island, evaluated as a probable fishing boat.

Moving E, the probable fishing boat reappeared and warranted a closer look. While tracking it, it cavitated briefly, revealing a 500hz line and confirming its identity. Search for the Akula resumed.

Arriving S of the island, I started working my way NE. The Cargo ship was now closing to the S, the yacht was behind the island to the N and had turned E. The Fishing Boat was a few miles to the E of the island.

Got a TIW to the north which was apparently a UUV. We then received a new signal which was immediately classified as the Akula, 3 lines, 2 arrays, plus DEMON, headed S at 18 knots and accelerating above the layer. It slowed and began moving across the layer, complicating tracking. aTMA was enabled and was showing a solution near the fishing boat, slightly beyond. I could have done a better job tracking if I had tried lowering the tail instead of trying to cross the layer with him. Then, when I started doing that, I realized late that the TA wasn't extended far enough for it to work, and about the same time I started doing it right I recieved a series of 3 TIWs. The first was a UUV, but UGST lines started popping up for the next two, plus our UUV tagged them. It was easy to triangulate a launch position, confirming the aTMA solution. Counterfired 2 ADCAPs, went deep, and scrammed W.

Getting the 2nd shot off almost proved costly, as the first UGST was fired on a course to lead a Westerly evasion route. Fortunately, it went for a decoy and missed S. A 2nd torp salvo was fired by the Akula and appeared to be headed for my original position. Slowing several times to track the target, I resteered the ADCAPs past the fishing boat (which it had appeared had been snapped up, but the torp had actually been homing on a decoy). The lead weapon then began following decoys, while I resteered the trailing weapon to intercept should the target try to evade to the west.

I started getting active pings again at 120 degrees, suggesting his torps had been resteered. I took a gamble on turning N, towards the island. This denied me the use of the lower layer but kept me in a position to continue to press the attack.

The lead ADCAP followed the target through a left turn and killed the Akula before the trailing ADCAP arrived. The UGST at 120 degrees appeared to be homing for awhile, but eventually drifted to 150 degrees and faded out--went for a decoy.

Thanks for the match, Fanqi. Maybe we should try it without aTMA sometime?

Thanks for the match, and especially thanks for your detailed AAR, that teaches me a lot.

I can hardly perform a manual TMA, though sometimes I temporarily turn off the autocrew to fix speed, etc.
