New to the mission editor, I've looked all through the manual and examined existing missions, and searched the forums, but with no success. Is there any way to trigger an event when a player (or any platform) makes or detects an attack (not only if/when the attack succeeds)? From the manual, p66, the Attack trigger won't do it: "If the weapon misses completely, the trigger will not fire."
It seems that targets will return fire if they're able. But I couldn't find a way to trigger on that either - it's the same problem. Unless they hit the player, the trigger won't fire (and then it's likely too late to be meaningful).
Am I missing something simple?
What I'm looking for is a way to trigger messages, changes in orders, alliances, etc, as soon as someone makes or detects an attack (hostilities have commenced), not to wait until something is damaged.
If that's not possible, I could just let everyone go along oblivious until something sinks. Just doesn't seem as dramatic. Much thanks to anyone who knows the answer.
