Which sub is the quietest, but is this correct historically?
I have read some stuff (on SUBSIM.com) about the Improved Akulas being quieter than the seawolf.

Here's the link to the article.

That article is very out of date and filled with incorrect analysts. It uses the term Nixie when it describes a MOSS, says the Akula II has VLS tubes, SET 65 torpedoes can take down a carrier one shot. But it is correct that submarines do generate extra noise in peacetime to give the other side a false signature.

Ok, so which platform is quietest in the game?

Well I don't know about the stock game but in Lwami realism mod 3.00b the Collins is the quietst (to four knots) and the SW and Kilo Imp are tied at 1 knot. At four to nine knots the Collins and SW are tied then Collins gets louder.

Don't forget about the Ohio's!

They are in the range of the SW and Collins at all speeds, around one or two points off if I remember correctly.

Also, the Japanese Harushio is between the Collins and the Kilo Improved in terms of quieting at all speeds. I can check the exact figures when I get home.

In the stock game, the Kilo Improved is the quietest by a long shot, followed by the Kilo, and then the SW.

The Ohio's, Collins, Harushios and just about every other non-playable subs are way way too loud in the stock database. Honestly, the stock Passive Sound Level assignments are a bit of a mess... I mean, mystery. :soapbox::gdamnit: :censored: :damnit:

Sadly the FFG is not the quietest boat, that even being docked at harbour and the crew on leave, it makes more noise than a heavy metal group on a life concert and can be detected using a Japanese WWII hydrophone set from 15 NM :damnit:

The FFG gets better in LWAMI, no?
