Well, today I found out that MAD isnt equal to MAD as far as P-3C and MH-60R MAD sensors go. It looks like the MAD/SAD ranges of the MH-60 are only (roughly) 1/3 of the ranges for the P-3C. While a P-3C cant be outdived right now by any playable sub, the Helo can. That has proven to be quite annoying today as an Akula was below 1000ft and even tho it was seen pretty good on Active, there was no Passive return of even a Deep DICASS (below 1nm distance) with a layer at 500 something ft. It took some time before I lost patience and simply dropped a torpedo on top of it, my thought at this moment - if its a sub then good bye and if its a whale - well Greenpeace wont like me then.

A quick lookup in the database:

MH60: ~280m
P-3: ~855m
(values depending on the target sub)

These are sphere radiuses, meaning that if it's 270 meters below the MH-60 sensor, but some 300 yards off to the side, it's not detected.

(btw, it's possible to dip the MH60 mad sensor, putting it as much as 150ft (~50m) below water if you nearly touch the surface yourself.
