So,

to get the CADC back up and running and to stay true to the mission statement I hereby declare the doors opened for the Commanders Academy & Dive Center - Dangerous Waters Tutorial Competion.

Now whats this going to be about and whats the prize ...

The prize will be an original 500+pages spiral bound Dangerous Waters manual SIGNED by Jamie and the SCS Staff.

And what do I have to do for this ?

Pretty simple ...

Build at least one tutorial mission for at least two of the available platforms and have a detailed written tutorial to go along with it. After that tutorial the player should be familar with all the stations on the platform and is able to hold up his own in a MP enviroment. You can make more then one mission (you can even make a tutorial campaign) if you think thats a better way of reaching the goal. And of course if you want to make tutorials for more then those two platforms, you are certainly welcome.

However there are a few restrictions ...

First : The mission(s) have to be new and you have to be the author/creator

Second : The accompanying written guide has to be new as well and of course written to match your mission, if you want to copy of stuff from existing guides you need to have written consent (means email) from the author(s) [if they are reachable] and clearly mark the used passages in your guide.

Third: The tutorials have to be written/build/designed for the stock game!

Fourth: Exception to the two platform rule is a tutorial for the FFG, if you do one mission/tutorial for the FFG then thats enough. Further if you want to do tutorials for the subs, one platform has to be Seawolf or 688 and the other either the Akula or Kilo.

The deadline for this will be September 1st, after that date all the stuff that was (hopefully) send in will be posted and the CADC users will be polled to vote on the best tutorial. The winner will get the original spiral bound printed manual, signed by Jamie and the SCS Staff.

please send in your contribution to oneshot@commanders-academy.com

Cheers
OS

Well,

if you are interested in taking part in this competition, please post a quick reply to the original post. That way I know if there is interest in the whole issue.

Thanks

Extension shall be no problem ... I hope 2 weeks will suffice? As for the content ... suprise me. Basic idea is to help people along who are just starting with the game (but have read the manual, or at least will read it when prompted).

hey OneShot, ...does it have to be a written guide to go with the mission or can it be audio/video? i'm so busy working i'v only been able to get bits and pieces written up for it and it would be a lot easier to use like wink or fraps and just make a video/audio guide to go along with it and i think it would actually be a lot better for the learnee because he/she can actually see whats going on...anyways let me know.

Audio/Video is ok, as long as it works (i.e. they can learn from it). However you might want to consider to have at least some written stuff for background information and basics/theoretical stuff where needed (for example : what is a thermocline or something like that).

Deadline for sending in stuff has come and gone. Unfortunatly nobody stepped up to the plate and therefore nobody can claim the prize ... an original spiral bound DW manual signed by Jamie and the SCS Staff.

There will be another competition somewhen down the road, probably even within this year .... hopefully next time there will be more participants.
