Hello,
I haven't played Dangerous Waters in quite a while now. But since I still love that game I'd like to play it again in multiplayer. Yeah, there's Gamespy but I'd prefer to play with people I either know or who play the game seriously (teamwork, not leaving just so etc).
So first I'd like to know who generally feels the same way and would want to join a scheduled multiplayer session. After that we could work out a schedule and game/mod version. ;)
Sincerely,
Landorin

Hello,
I'm interested in joining such MP sessions rather than playing against random opponents via GameSpy.
I live in Europe - the time zone is GMT+1.
I hope to see more of us in the game lobby!

Well, apparently, we're the only ones in this forum who are interested in that. :frown:

Gentlemen , organicing a good match with good players takes time, this is why at least we want to organice one on a weekly basis.
I hope more matches come up along this one as well, but at least you can count with a nice one per week.

We had 4 people today... Myself, Vasili, Landorin, and Swordfish. We ran a slightly modified version of rough riders, although the "new" stuff didn't show up this time around. Vasili and myself took the aggressor akulas, while Landorin took a helo, and Sword took a P-3.
Anyways, thanks to the improved sub AI of LW/Ami, this match got crazy. Both AI 688I's ended up engaging Vasili after the airdales started getting contacts in that area. They fired a LOT, but never quite connected... Vasili had a few great evades.
One S-3 got the AI Kilo, while another ended up in the drink. Lando then left to get more ammo, but the FFG's deck was taken up by a helo at alert 5. I suggested landing on a Tico, but i think he tried to land on the FFG anyways... It didn't work out well. Sword managed to take out a friendly 688I, while Vasily got the other one--and a freighter. Vasily later shot down Sword.
Meanwhile, I while everyone was busy out east. I slipped in from the west. A torp that Vasiliy shot caused the nearest AEGIS escort to run south, opening the door wide for me. I fired torps first, and followed up with missiles when the torps got close. A wakehomer sunk the AOR, while a UGST and several missiles hit the CVN for the win. But, the TR was a tough little bitch and managed to make it back to port....but a mission kill is a mission kill, just the same.

Indeed a nice game. Replay showed that a Neutral shot me down, it had fired at me ealier as well (or maybe I was seeing things). Was this part of the map design ? Had I know i would have taken out the ship before entering the area :).
Tks for the game.

Hmmm, I saw the French ship take a shot at you, but you were still flying afterward...
[Edited] The Jean Bart is an ordinary neutral ship. Prior versions, I think, had it scripted to actively assist one side if the other side attacked it, but if that was ever part of a release, it was removed. So, it's behaving under whatever the rules for platforms designated neutral are; not sure if it's controlled by doctrine or by the engine.
Usually, neutral warships will only defend themselves when attacked. I'm not sure if they will retaliate or not. There were a number of US torpedoes which was heading in the direction of the JB, maybe that had something to do with it.
If it turns out this is a bug that occurs frequently and can't be fixed in the doctrine, I'll remove the Jean Bart from the mission.

Oh yeah, that was my first time using this mod version and since I had no time reading about all the changes it was quite a challenge (thermal layers for example seem to make a much bigger difference now than in the standard game).
I should practice a bit more offline. ;)
By the way, I noticed during the replay that I was right when I believed I was tracking an enemy sub (it was Vasili). I even fired a torp at him but as it turned out, it ran out of fuel or hit his CM and after that I lost contact (there was soooooooo much stuff in the water, was extremely hard to tell what was where). ;)
And no, I don't do very well manually landing on a ship. ;) Also, I don't know if you can rearm if you land anywhere but on your home FFG (which hopefully isn't blocked by the 2nd helo next time). ;)

I've reloaded on LSDs for sure. Probably Burkes too. I'm pretty sure you can reload on anything with a landing pad....although hopefully not cruise ships.

only one thing i can tell you ... this was a very great game for me - and it was my lucky day evading so much torps
