An extract from my post to Subsim com. DW forum :-

' You may find some more useful articles at Harpoon HQ in the Waypoint magazines :-

http://www.harpoonhq.com/waypoint/

The JED (Journal of Electronic Defense) articles of interest :

1.Submarine Sensors come to the Surface.
2.Up periscope up Antenna
3.Pack Hunters.
4.Surface combatants are facing more lethal antiship weapons.

The appropriate permissions to reprint may be required. (?)

Heck dont add 'em all to Landlubber - think of my ink costs. '

This mag. is now defunct. Temporarily I hope.

Dig around and there are loads of interesting articles like "The Art of War' series and
many platform specific ones like the 'Oscar'

Dig in and enjoy. :cool:

Another interesting simulation for those interested in global warfare on a larger scale. This game has a nuclear option which I don't believe is available in DW, although I could be wrong because I'm a newbie. Being on such a larger scale I don't think it offers the details of actually running a platforms equipment. Still Harpoon looks like a fantastic option if you ever decide to look at something else besides DW (lol is it possible?)

Edit: Oh yeah, I have never played Harpoon... I just took a quick glimpse at it. Interesting if you liked the movie Wargames I think.

Ok so here's a list of some books I stole from an old thread on the DW forums:

U.S.S. Seawolf;
Kilo Class;
Barracuda 945;
Blind Man’s Bluff;
The Silent War;
Big Red: The Three Month Voyage of a Trident Submarine;
The Silent Service: Seawolf Class (Los Angeles class, Grayback class);
Spy Sub;
Nimitz Class;
Pride Run Deep;
Clear the Bridge!;
Thunder Below!;
Submarine! (by Edward L. Beach);
Dangers Hour;
Dangerous Ground;
Typhoon, by Robin White;
To Kill the Potemkin, by Mark Joseph;
Typhoon, by Mark Joseph;
Cold Is The Sea, by Edward Beach;
'Silent Service' series by H. Jay Riker.;
Red Storm Rising;
H.M.S. Unseen;
The Last Sentry by G. Young and N. Braden;
Cold War Submarines: The Design and Construction of U.S. and Soviet Submarines by N. Polmar and K. Moore.;

I guess this is a good list to start with. I guess some are more technical and some more fictional, and most if not all are stories.
